Board Evaluation Template

Most boards never assess themselves, and then wonder why things don’t improve. A board self-evaluation doesn’t have to be painful or political. Done well, this can bring to the surface what everyone is already thinking but not saying.

This template gives a starting point for questions that can be distributed to board members, ideally annually. Use the spreadsheet or enter it into a form or survey and then discuss the results at a board meeting. Identify gaps, challenges, areas of imprpovement, things going great, and the build what you learn into your workplan for the year ahead.
