How training works
We offer facilitated full-board training, board retreat facilitation, and new director orientation — delivered in person at your location across BC, or online. Sessions typically run from a half-day to two days depending on scope.
After an initial discovery conversation, we design an agenda tailored to your board’s most pressing challenges, your sector’s regulatory context, and your organization’s stage of development.

Frequently asked questions
Do you train boards outside the Lower Mainland?
Yes. We work with organizations throughout British Columbia, including rural and remote communities. Online delivery is available for organizations where travel isn’t practical.
How long does a typical training session take?
Most boards choose a half-day or full-day format. New board orientations can be completed in two to three hours. Multi-session governance development programs are also available for boards that want sustained improvement over time.
Do you address the BC Societies Act specifically?
Yes. For non-profit societies, we ground all governance training in the requirements and obligations of the BC Societies Act, including director duties, annual filing requirements, and AGM rules.
Can you work with both the board and the executive director together?
Absolutely — and we recommend it. The board-ED relationship is one of the most common sources of governance breakdown. Joint sessions that clarify roles and rebuild trust are among the most impactful work we do.
Is training tax-deductible for our non-profit?
Professional development and governance training are typically an eligible organizational expense. We recommend confirming with your accountant or financial officer.
What makes your training different from self-directed online courses?
Facilitated training is interactive. Your board can ask questions in real time, work through your actual challenges, and build shared understanding together — something a self-directed module can’t provide. Governance change happens in rooms, not in individual browser sessions.
